Temba has a strong reporting and accounting capacity, and is able to take on the additional financial oversight responsibility, through its experience and good reporting system.

 

Networking / Community Involvement:

 

Temba is a member of the following organisations, PHASO (Partnership in HIV/AIDS Support Organisations (Lulu Boxoza-Chairperson), Action Group for Children in Distress (CINDI) (Lulu Boxoza - Chairperson), Medical Research Council (MRC – Lulu, being a Community Advisory Board member), Eastern Cape NGO Coalition (Mike Sodaba – being a Representative in the Regional Structure), who frequently meet for meetings, reports, support and referrals.  Our organisation is also one of the endorsing organisations for Treatment Action Campaign (TAC). Temba has a working relationship with organisations like; PPASA, MRC, MANEPHA (Network for People Living with HIV/AIDS), NAPWA (National Association for People living with AIDS), Hospice Transkei, Hope Worldwide, Walter Sisulu University (WSU), South African Civil Military Alliance, and the government departments, Health, Agriculture, Social Development, Education and Local Government, etc.

 

SKILLS OF THE PROJECT MANAGERS

 

a) Director (Human Resource / Training / Financial):

 

Lulu Boxoza – Was a Chief Admin Clerk at Transkei Development Corporation for Tembalethu Wholesale Division from 1981 - 1987; Was an Assistant Executive Director at Transkei Chamber of Commerce from 1987 - 1993; Was Financial / Human Resource Manager of the National Educare Forum from 1993 – 1999, and has managed +- R100 000 000 in funds that had to be channeled to the Communities for Educare Projects and Nutrition Programme.  She has a background in SMME development through experience of having worked for Chamber of Commerce as an Assistant Director for five years.

 

She is the Founder of Temba Community Development Services from 1999 and is now a Director working with a Board of Management to date.  She is qualified with Diplomas: Personnel and Training Management; Human Resource Management; Financial Management/Bookkeeping; Have credits towards Bachelor of Business Admin.; Certificate as HIVAIDS Trainer and Counsellor.

 

b) Programme Manager:

 

Mike Sodaba – Was Project Manager of NEF from 1997 – 1999.  Qualified from Damelin Institute as Project Manager and qualified in a course sponsored by Ntsika Enterprises, which was run by UNISA in tenders, with particular attention to Government Procurement.  He has a strong background in SMME development through experience in working for Transkei Chamber of Commerce as an Executive Director, from 1988 – 1990.  The experience gained in NEF in dealing with Women Community Projects since 1997 has enabled him to facilitate Income Generating Projects.  He is also a Founder member of Temba, and has been trained as a HIV/AIDS Trainer/Counsellor.

 

c) Volunteer Consulting Doctor:
 

Dr. Nobuntu Songca – Qualified as a Medical Practitioner (BSC, MCBChB) and is having her own private practice.  She has been involved in community service and outreach programmes since 1999, assisting people living with HIV/AIDS.

 

d) Volunteer Professional Nurse:

 

Sister Vuyelwa Mathanga – She is a Professional Nurse and a qualified midwife since 1985.  She has been involved with People living with HIV/AIDS (PWAs) since 1997, doing pre and post-test counseling, and conducting home visits.  She has been trained as a Counselor and she compiles reports and statistics, and has/is attending many courses on HIV/AIDS.

 

 

 

MANAGEMENT AND STAFF:

 

The Organisation is managed by a Management Committee, and the Director is the Ex-Officio member of the MANCO.  The Field Staff, including the Carers report to the Coordinator, Programmes Manager, Director through to the Management Committee.  The MANCO of Temba incorporates of array of sector and management skills that is crucial in the oversight of the programmes.
